28 Days of Love 2017

main-pic

Greetings loves,

I hope that you are taking time to care for yourself as the energy of the past few days has been very hectic. Change is coming and quickly. Over the next month as many focus on chocolates and bears, we here at The Bliss Institute dedicate each February to 28 Days of shamelessly loving ourselves and each other. Each week we focus on bringing a specific aspect of our being into alignment with source and love. The first week we focus on our heart energy via the heart chakra. On the second week we examine the relationship between our thoughts and our hearts. The third week moves to engage the body in heart felt connection. Lastly, we will explore ways to transform our living and other spaces that we occupy into nurturing areas of support and love.

They say it takes 21 days to form a habit. Here we are looking to encourage and fill our love meters in a time when making it through each day may be all that we can do. You deserve to take a moment to nurture yourself. Focus on what you can give yourself even if it’s just a moment to breathe and hopefully a bit of time to complete some of these exercises. Here’s to 28 Days of Love.

New Moon In Aquarius

to-the-times-of-aquarius-2

Greetings beloveds,

How’s this week been treating you? It’s been a busy week for me and I’m looking forward to slowing down a little this weekend with some much needed time with friends. Today or tomorrow depending on where you are in the world brings us a new moon in Aquarius. Aquarius is the last of the air signs and the second to last zodiac sign before the beginning of the new astrological cycle. Known as the water bearer, Aquariuses are known for their humanitarian efforts watering the seeds of cognitive innovation required to bring about large scale social and technological change. As a fixed sign though Aquarius is not prone to quick change. They are in for the long game understanding that the actions, plans, and ideas put into place now have long term effects. Aquariuses thoughts are rarely in the present other than to begin to create ideas of what they would like the future to be like. These are the great advanced thinkers of the zodiac signs. Due to this they are the sign most likely to avoid emotions especially as underneath all that intelligence lies a very sensitive soul. They use thoughts and imagination as their forms of connection. Aquariuses are known to be a bit quirky (and a lot of kinky) because of this inter-dimensional super cognitive quite similar to their ruling planet Uranus. Uranus is associated with that larger than life aspect that they hold. Anyone who has had an Aquarius in their life knows these are not simple folks who can be placated with empty words but deep individuals who require transparency and a can do attitude. Which plays perfectly into the theme of this new moon.

You’ll find that Aquariuses seldom act without a well thought out plan. This need for order and control but unlike the Capricorn energy that we have been experiencing Aquarius likes to get things done, even if they know that it will take a long time to see results. Remember they are all about long term change. This is generally the time of year when folks start to make changes in their lives for the better (or worse). Often times we are up and running during January but by February and sometimes March, the steam may have run out. We are just about to reach that time when the plans we set in place to enact change may be starting to show signs of wear and we are needing to amend our plans in order to continue moving forward. This new moon is about taking action so if you find yourself feeling stuck or unsure of where to go next, use this new moon to review your plans, seek outside assistance, and most importantly ACT. At times our mind may trick us into stalling on desires we have because of all the often very real obstacles that may be in our path. Yet we must keep pushing forward. Take a minute to meditate on the future outcome of these endeavors. Let this knowledge that what you are doing now will have long range results as your drive to keep going. Harness that Aquarius energy to dig your heels into your plan and see it’s fruition regardless of what may be keep you from going forward.

b5aae86635d37b93daa622b74c1907e7.jpg (550×550)

The foresight that Aquarian’s have gives them a sense of ease about the future. They know what is coming and what they/us need to do to create the world we would like to see. You may find yourself though fixed upon your intentions, perhaps even to the point of obsession.  You may find that you are not open to input, assistance, or subtle changes that need to be implemented to your course of action. At this time, we may be experiencing a fear of outside assistance and ways of being because we think it may take away from what we know will bring about the results in life we want. This is a universe of plenty. Right now we are facing a time when those in power are making plans according to a spirit of lack. Cutting away and pruning services and ideas that they feel are draining or negative. When we know that this is a universe of plenty with more than enough for everyone, the fear of sharing space and resources diminishes.

If you are feeling unheard or shut out of large scale decisions within society, take some time to learn the reasons WHY those who are making these decisions are doing so. This will allow you to better understand other’s positions to make a better argument for your case/belief. This does not mean compromise or that you must accept what belief is held by the other but will allow you to better communicate your stance. Or you may find that there is a belief about how you approach achieving your plans or desires that needs to be released or amended. Whatever role you are playing at this time, come at it from a place of abundance. There is space for everyone. This is not a time to hold on to relationships, thoughts, or behaviors that keep you from growth. Even if that means releasing larger structures or institutions that attempt to bind you (cough couch the government).

Take stock of how you have related to the larger world socially, politically, emotionally, intellectually. What patterns do you see here? Right now may be a great time to make a historical timeline of events of how certain decisions have turned out noting all the above mentioned aspects. What’s the same? What’s different about what is going on right now? Use that information to inform what you predict will come in the future. What patterns have existed that need to be released and broken? Aquarius is focused on the macro level but that energy always filters down to our most intimate state of being. Once you’ve done that review, it’s time to be the visionary. What do you want your world to look like? What do you want the future to bring? Once that’s even remotely clear, start acting as if it has already come to pass. If you can’t because of a law or social restriction what needs to be done so that you can have the future you envision? What are the small steps you can take to bring this about? Do those things. Know that you are worthy of having this world that you envision. Even if others say that your needs don’t matter realize they are in that space of lack and fear. You don’t have to be there with them. Cut them off. Turn the channel. Strike down the law. Act!

Remember that you are powerful. I believe in you and know that we can achieve greatness together.

With love,

Rose

What Lies Beyond the Underworld?

Greetings beloveds,

I have been doing the work over the past week and wanted to give you all a quick update on what I have experienced thus far.

To begin, I have spent at least one hour each day in meditation visiting the underworld. While there I have had some interesting conversations with the Dark Goddess from my purpose to aliens and ex boy friends. What I knew would be most significant would be our discussion of the 8th gate and my current relationship status (or lack there of). I have gotten to the point where I just express my intention to enter the underworld and I find my self going through a door or gate and I am there. That comes with time and energy devoted to this path so it will most likely not be this simple for those who have never done so before. I would also like to caution anyone from taking a trip to the underworld lightly. It is an intense experience where we are completely naked and unable to hide our true selves. It is not for those who are simply wishing to see what lies beyond the veil.

infinity-1030x644.jpg (1030×644)I have more work to do in this area but I will share what I have learned thus far. First, the 8th gate which shares some characteristics with the 8th Chakra but more so to the infinity symbol. There are tales of the underworld that include 9 levels or 7 gates. The myth of Inanna’s Descent aligns the most with my being so it is the framework upon which information about the underworld is shared with me but this applies across all levels if it resonates with you.

Here’s a little background before I get to the good stuff. I have never understood the fear and opposition to the underworld, Dark Goddess or God energy. It seemed strange and misplaced. For many folks who teach to move beyond fear it seems acceptable to continue to fear or be resistant to these subjects. I understand. Death is unknown. It is a taboo subject in Western society that is shunned and left unaddressed. So much so that we are obsessed with youth and life stigmatizing aging as a process and stage of being. The Crone has only recently begun to be revered and the elderly male is seen either as very wise or a waste of investment in need of retirement. Death is synonymous with change. It is unavoidable that we will at some point no longer be in the form and shape that we are now (unless you get into some really interesting magic or enlightenment). So I find myself relating to this work from a different stance than many. I do not fear this space of the unknown that is dark not because it is evil or bad but because it hold the potential for ALL forms of creation. It is the womb and the tomb where energy is transmuted into something new. How could that be something that we resist? It is so inviting, warm, and welcoming. No judgement or control necessary simply peace and rest.

Due to my alignment with the underworld as well as some information that I received that when I am in spirit form my main job is pretty much the equivalent of the Grim Reaper, as in I assist in the transition of souls from one plane to another, my relationship with underworld work is not quite like any one else’s I have met so far. What I was shared with about the 8th gate was that because it was generally left out of the myths and underworld journey’s folks who venture to do this work do not receive the full healing and rest that should occur. They have become unburdened but continue forth without taking advantage of a unique moment of manifestation and complete realignment with self. They go through the death/rebirth process without having the joy of truth in their being. The 8th gate is that space.

When our souls leave this place and are no longer within our bodies they transition through the energetic realms. Releasing the holds of this dimension which kept them dense. As they become light, returning to their true form they reach a critical point. The place where the review and holds of this lifetime are completely released. They cross through the 8th gate. It is that place between the lower and upper realms. It is the bridge or resting point. It will be different for every person but it is the place of dreams, visions, and unhindered desires. It is where we come to determine who it is we desire to be and unrestrained by the laws of this plane are able to bring them forth immediately.

It is my work at this time to create ways for those who wish to visit this space. To change their world.

I went through my own 8th gate to be presently surprised to see it is where I meet with my guardians and guides. It was a place I had spent much time in and had not known that my relationship with the underworld allowed me access to this space. I will share more later as it becomes time but for now. I hope that you all find your way to this place. Feel the ability to dream and be free.

With love,

-Rose

12 Universal Laws: Law of Divine Oneness

northern-lights-1250561_960_720.jpg (960×540)Greetings beloveds,

As I write this curled up on my futon enjoying the last remnants of the day I am filled with overflowing joy and hope as today streets, homes, and hearts stood for the rights of all. While also being acutely aware of the work that still must be done (for it is never done). It seems this is an optimum time to speak on the 1st Universal Law: The Law of Divine Oneness.

I know you’ve heard it before, that we are all one. We originate from the same Source or God. It’s a saying that at times can be quite annoying to be honest, especially when you witness those who seem to be so vastly different than yourself. Energetically we are all connected but it isn’t this pie in the sky, we are the world connection at all. It is at the most minute micro level that that which flows through me and creates this physical form that I currently inhabit exists in RELATION to that which exists in all.

Think of it like water. Water can take the form of ice, droplets, vapor, small or large pools. It varies depending upon the conditions present. Water is not just an element. It is the dance between molecules, atoms, and energy. And although at any time hydrogen and oxygen may dance together in order to form water..they also may find themselves in completely different configurations. Combining in different ways, in different forms, at different times to create the variation of reality that we get to experience every day. Yet the POSSIBILITY remains that the energy (protons, neutrons, electrons) that makes up the atoms can take a number of forms for even the oxygen that makes up water can be found in different combinations bringing about different results.

So when one speaks on Divine Oneness, do not let the simplicity of the phrase fool you. The variation available in the forms in which the energy that makes up this dimension and our specific plane, are infinite. It is the energy that brings about the possibility of our connection. It is Source from which we originate yet that does not mean we are the same. We are delightfully unique. Society has taught us to fear difference and variation instead of seeing it for the magic that it is. Difference just is. Neither good nor bad. It is difficult for folks to release the need to put a label of morality on everything. To live in the gray area. I’ve said it before and will continue to say it energy, emotions, and thoughts are not good/bad, right/wrong, positive/negative at their core. They just are. It is what comes forth from the interaction of energy that brings about our judgement (and often shame).

Divine Oneness calls for you to see the energy that exists within you is present in everything. Not just people, animals, or nature but in the anger, fear, and hope. It does not mean that you must align with it. It does not mean that it will resonate with you (vibrations are a thing). It’s just there. Open to fluctuation and transformation if so willed. Now let’s get to the good stuff.

Deny if you like, but those who want to make change understand that if they are able to recognize energy in its many different forms, align with certain waves/types, and then get enough other folks to focus upon the same energetic cause, that they are then able to influence the flow of that energy. Think sports, concerts/music, and even elections. The conscious recognition of energy on its’ own changes the behavior of said energy. PAY ATTENTION! Do not be lazy with your power. Do not give it away. FOCUS. Gather your friends, pets, plants, land, elements, and guides and ask for their assistance. Realize that your differences in perceived social constructs such as gender, sexuality, race, class, ethnicity, religion, and even age actually are just variations on the whole. YOU make the choice of whether you will judge and shame others nothing else. That freedom of choice is part of our connection as well. Source is choice. Source is variation. Source is All.

Right now folks like to bounce about a story about divisiveness. It is not that we are divided, it is that we are variegated. So much so that the differences, intentions, and desires of this existence can be striking. The challenge for those who want to gather collective consciousness is finding a common ground. Today it was a women’s march for some. Another day it was fear of change. What are the commonalities that you can find?

Here’s a secret: even if the common ground is experienced by some as super negative such as fear, anger, lust, or greed it won’t matter. Common focus is common focus and it is powerful. If you want to inspire and feel Divine Oneness, as clique as it sounds you must first connect with yourself. Then begin to feel the energy around you. It’s not always about other people. It’s about ALL beings seen and unseen. Harness your relationship with the plant beings, animals, elements, buildings, books, and vehicles. It is when you can recognize that you are just as connected to your sheets and pillows as you are to your loved ones that Divine Oneness will truly be understood.

I have faith that one day we will recognize our connection at a micro level. There will be no discussion on putting the needs of people, places, or things above others in those same or adjacent categories. We will focus our intent. We will recognize the parts make up the whole no matter what size or influence they hold. We will look in the mirror and see Source or God in ourselves acting through us, for us, as us. It will take checking our privilege (yes I said it). It will take checking our assumptions. I love each and everyone of you. I want each and everyone of you to be happy. To know that you are love. Release the paradigm of lack (your neighbor having something does not mean that you cannot have it as well). Release the paradigm of worth equals work (remember we experience reality differently, what constitutes as work varies greatly). Embrace similarity over sameness. Embrace abundance. Embrace that all beings are worthy. Embrace devotion to the divine in the many forms it inhabits as colorful as the divine its’ self. Find your common ground of connection. Find the Source within you. Let it Rise. Do the work.

Clearing out Your Space

Greetings beloveds,

I hope you are all well. It’s been a busy week around these parts what with clearing things out and being in the underworld. This January as we’ve covered clearing our energy in order to create space for manifesting our desires, this week we will focus on clearing out our physical space through decluttering.

Minimalism has been on the brain for me as I move into the new year wanting to create more space in order to provide room to be more creative not only artistically but magically. Yet realistically I have too deep of a love affair with books, teacups, and comfort items to be much of a minimalist but what I can easily do is make a habit of reviewing the items I do have in order to make sure that I am not holding on to old energy. Here’s my quick go to declutter guide.

  1. Let the seasons be your guide: If you are needing an easy way to remember when to take account of the physical objects that you have in order to keep your space active and moving using the seasons always works. As noted in several posts on working with the seasons, each season brings about a certain drive with it. Summer is very active, Fall is gathering and nesting, Winter encourages creation and planning, with Spring lastly bringing the drive to cleanse and awaken. Thus when the seasons change use that as a signal to remove from your space anything that causes you to have resistance to the energy of that time. Remember to always do what feels best for you.
  2. Make a Plan: If you’re one of those people who gets overwhelmed then it may help to make a plan. Perhaps choose to go through your things in one room per week or one room per day. Splitting the task into parts makes the completion of the task easier to see as feasible than having a whole house of things yelling at you.
  3. Just Start: On the other hand if you are prone to procrastination or if the objects yelling appear to be just too much. Take a deep breath, look to your right and start right where you are. Intention is everything and taking the first step can make all the difference in shifting the energy in order to get things flowing.
  4. Divide and Conquer: Create a system which will help you organize your belongings. I generally use the keep, donate, and trash categories. For instance, when I go through my closets I keep those I will still wear and in good condition. I donate the clothes that no longer fit and are in good condition. I throw out the clothes that are either stained, have holes or are just not something I’m sure anyone would want to wear because it is damaged in some way.
  5. Take Your Time: There is no rush to get this done unless you’re really feeling the call to create some space in your home. This is a perfect time to honor yourself. Give yourself the ultimate form of cleansing by releasing the restrictions that you place upon yourself.
  6. Give Yourself Time to Feel the Space: The void is the place of creation. It is where we go from thought to being. Space gives us room to grow and heal but it can also be VERY uncomfortable if there are feelings, memories, or issues that you have been distracted from by all the things around you constantly grabbing your attention. Be prepared to address areas that you thought you had dealt with or just been avoiding. As you clear your space and body your emotional/psychological wells will be ready to be cleansed as well. So have a friend, therapist, or at least a journal with some tissues in case things come up that you weren’t expecting.

I hope this quick list helps you to get started clearing out your space.  I love you all and wish nothing more than for you to be able to be happy, manifest your dreams, and know always that you are loved. To a year of joy and peace.

Reflections: Finding Your Place

438187_(www.Gde-Fon.com).jpg (1600×960)Greetings beloveds,

How are things? Have you been clearing out your space and your being? Or perhaps you are nesting in this time of rest and hibernation? Whatever is working for you, it is my wish that you revel in it regardless of what else may be going on in your sphere.

I have been healing. It is a part of my life work. Having received an amazing Akashic Reading as a referral from a trusted soul friend, I found that there was of course more self work to be completed. Chantal, who delivered my reading for me shared information with me on where my soul originated, my gifts, challenges, and areas/ties which needed to be cleared and released. One of the fun things that I learned was the connection to the Earth that I have that can be utilized through communication and use of crystals. I have always loved crystals but never experienced receiving any messages from them as I’ve heard some people say. I’m open though to seeing if I am able to connect to stones energetically. I view it as a fun experiment. That way there’s no real pressure. I am also going to be working on my psychic abilities so telepathy and telekinesis are on the menu for exploration.

I thought that was enough to have to work on. Turns out that’s not the half of it. In my full moon circle I attend, which I adore, we did a mediation centered around the element of water. During which I spent time as a mermaid until I climbed out of an underground water tavern to meet the Dark Goddess. I was not surprised as generally that is who I convene with. I was also expecting to see her again as during my meditation at a retreat in which there was an underworld meditation during which I received information about more work that needed to be done. The message I received while in the women’s circle so kindly let me know that it’s time for me to return to the underworld and release my last relationship. Seems that the work I had started in cutting ties jump started a deeper release.

So I find myself again venturing into the below. Doing the work. Moving forward. I was resistant because I wanted to be done with that for a bit. I wanted to sit up here with everyone else doing the Earthly work. It as going to be light and fun. I didn’t want to have to delve into why I my ex still crept into my thoughts. I just wanted it to be over and move on. But acceptance is important. And the truth is there are quite a few things about myself that I take for granted as being normal when they are far from it. It’s taken me 29 years to realize this but better now than never.

So I return to the underworld. To learn, explore, release and complete the work that needs to be done.

12 Universal Laws: Energetic Promises from Source to You

12-universal-lawsGreetings beloveds,

I hope you all are having a magical January. Mercury retrograde is over and we are in a unique celestial moment when all the planets will be direct until around February 6th. This is a fantastic time to start to finalize travel, work, home, and personal plans for the upcoming year and time to come. As such, I have been doing my personal work and exploring different ways to bring my gifts to the world. One of these gifts is in understanding the ways in which our universe (and others) operates. It is one of the many reasons I have such a difficult time in this plane as the human world makes little sense to me as it hinders the ease upon which we should be able to live our lives. But that has been the lesson of this world; to bring ourselves back into alignment with source.

My gift to you for the next year will be to share my understanding of the 12 Universal Laws (UL’s), how they apply to our energetic self, and what we can do to flow more at ease with this energy. Each month will have a post that is dedicated to an individual law so that each is able to be explored in depth. Do not let the term “Law” deter you. This is more of an energetic promise then a stiff rule that when broken has harsh punishments. I will not sugar coat things though, as these promises can seem to be far out of alignment with the current fear based narrative being held by many on Earth today. So the use and recognition of these Promises may seem difficult on this plane but we must enact our trust and faith in the Divine to see us through. Plus you can just treat this as an experiment and see what comes forth. Being gentle with yourself and not taking things so seriously will not only make this a less daunting experience but assist you in alleviating stress in other areas of your life as well. The less stressed you are the easier it is to flow with the UL’s.

Like any other bit of change incorporating these promises into our everyday life will take time. Luckily there’s plenty of it! So I hope you will join me in integrating and altering our reality this year and forever more.

With love,

  Open-Angle – Counterpose: knees-to-chest

Splits –  Counterpose: downward facing dog

Start seated with your legs crossed comfortably. Inhale feeling your back lengthen and straighten as you do. Place your right hand behind you and exhale into a twist bringing your left hand onto your right knee for seated spinal twist. Hold here for 3 breaths.

Now extend your legs in front of you into staff making sure your spine is straight by imagining each vertebrae stacking one on top of the other. Inhale arms overhead and exhale bending at the waist into forward bend. Hold for as long as you need.

Inhale slowly raising your arms overhead and exhale lowering your arms. Repeat 2 times.

Next, spread your legs as far apart as is comfortable for you into a v shape. Inhale arms up exhale bending at the waist placing your hands on the floor in front of you where ever you feel comfortable for open angle. Hold for 2 breaths then on your next inhale raise up slightly and on the exhale bend forward from the waist lowering deeper into the pose. Hold here for 2 breaths. Repeat as many times as you like until you have reached the deepest pose for you.

Now inhale slowly raising up out of the pose and find yourself in legs together, abdominal muscles activated, arms comfortable at your side. Inhale raising your arms overhead letting your shoulders slide gently down holding your arms parallel to each other elbows and palms facing inwards into Mountain pose. Take 2 breaths and then exhale lowering your arms as you do so. Repeat 2 times. On the third, exhale bend forward at the waist for standing forward bend. Repeat this again 2 times. Return to standing position arms lowered at your sides once again.

Plant your right food firmly on the ground at the front of your mat if you are using one, feeling each toe connect with the ground. Step your left foot back behind you with your foot turned out. Align yourself until your hips are squared. Inhale slightly up and exhale bending forward at the waist placing your hands upon the ground or blocks if needed. Exhale, rotating your core and bringing your left arm up so your fingertips are facing the ceiling or sky. Let your head follow the stretch of your arm looking upward into Revolved Triangle. Hold for 2 breaths or longer if desired. When ready, exhale lowering your left arm down along with rotating your core back towards the ground. Inhale, slowly raising up from the waist bring your arms arms to rest on your hips.

Inhale rising up slightly. Exhale bending your right knee at a 90 degree angle into lunge, your left foot turned outwards. Place your hands firmly either on your knee to steady yourself. When you’re ready inhale your arms up in the same fashion used in Mountain pose for Warrior. Breath here, using your feet to feel the connection to the ground. Your weight should be centered in your hips, your core strong supporting your upper body. Hold here for 4 breaths. Inhale raising up just slightly and exhale releasing your arms back to your knee.

On your next exhale place your right arm on the outside of your upper right thigh rotating your core but leaving your left arm still on your knee. Inhale, and on your next exhale hook your left arm pit as deeply as you can into your knee letting your right arm lift up extending overhead. This should create a relatively straight line down from the fingertips of your right hand down to your left foot. Breathe here in Revolved Extended Side-Angle. If you are feeling too challenged here, lower that right arm and raise your left forearm to bring your hands into prayer pose. Your core still rotated to the right. Hold and breathe here. When you are ready, exhale lowering that left arm to the ground placing your right hand on your right hip. Inhale, raise up slightly moving your left arm to your right knee and bring your right hand to meet it there.

Both hands resting upon your knee on your next inhale step your left leg forward both feet together knees slightly bent. Steady your yourself and inhale slowly rising up into standing. Repeat again on your left side.

Once done, standing tall inhale your arms up overhead into Mountain and then exhale releasing your arms to your side. Repeat as many times as desired. On your last exhale bring your hands together in Prayer pose at your heart chakra.

Namaste.

With love,

-Rose

Full Moon in Cancer

1498844-bigthumbnail.jpg (450×323)

Greetings beloveds,

Happy Full Moon in Cancer! While we’ve spent the last few weeks focused on celebrating and planning for 2o17, family and home are taking a front stage in the sign of Cancer. The first water sign of the zodiac, Cancer as a cardinal sign, is the most flexible of its element. Although it may take time to see what’s under their shell, Cancer’s are the explorers of the water signs open to finding new ways to relate, express, and understand emotions. They are connected to the moon, having their emotions change with the tides which is why they are often known for being sensitive and a bit emotionally unstable. Yet, they are just actually accessing the full spectrum of emotions as opposed to many of the rest of us who just skim the surface. If Cancer’s can be known for one thing it is they are not afraid to feel even if the emotion only lasts for a moment.

This full moon will be about finding contentment and addressing your fears. During this full moon take a look at your goals and plans you made during the new moon. Were you completely open and authentic with the desires that you wrote? Are you content with the state of your life knowing that you are loved and able to move beyond your standard loop. 2016 was a year focused on release and now we must examine whether what we let go has created a space where we can explore new emotions and ways of expressing them. This requires a new life paradigm where we focus on what we would like more of from a place of being fulfilled as oppose to lack. So find what you are enjoying in your everyday and life experiences and then ask for more of that.

This is also a time to have an emotional checkup. Check in with how you’re feeling. Stressed, excited, content, sad, anxious? There are so many emotions we experience yet we find ourselves in the same emotional patterns over and over. If you find that every job you work at you encounter a lot of gossip and jealously there may be an emotional frequency you’re putting out that you are unaware of. Now I’ll say it again, you must be aware of what you are putting out there in order to determine whether issues originate from you or from the other person. Sometimes it’s really not you.

The emotion that is going to require the most of our attention this full moon is fear. It’s simple to say “face your fears” or “just plow through what you’re afraid of”. Its another story to actually address not only the current manifestation of our fears but more importantly the root of our fears. For this I say seek support. Find a text, therapist, or program that resonates with you and do the work. Surface level help may be great to get you started but what’s really needed is a deep and thorough examination of what your life experiences have culminated resulting in your current life. Facing my fears of rejection, abandonment, success, and social pressures has been some of the hardest and most rewarding work that I have engaged in. Although I have not removed these fears from my psyche I am actually aware of what they are, how they affect my life, and have discovered ways to change my behaviors in reaction to them.

ss_onions.jpg (300×300)There’s a lot of folks who did some great self work last year. 2016 was all about releasing and most of us let a lot of shit go. But we as beings of this wonderful universe are like onions. You peel off one layer, cry it out, and then peel off another. So there’s always a bit more to explore and discover. Have fun with it though and celebrate the triumphs that you experience. Although you may descend to the underworld you must ascend at some point. When you do ascend celebrate!! Be joyful in the work that you have done. Finding contentment may involve just accepting where you are on the wheel of life whether that’s in the upright or reversed position. You can always change your future.

So profess your love for yourself and your situation (even if it is horrible) then do what you can to bring yourself to where you want to be.

I love you.

The Masculine Journey to the Underworld: Addressing Abandonment in 2017

Greetings beloveds,

I wanted to speak to you today about a subject that is of the highest importance to me. I haven’t spoken on sacred sexuality and union in a bit as I have had some healing and lessons to learn in this area. What I have found has profoundly changed me in ways that I am better able to feel the beauty of as opposed to explaining through words. Eventually through it will be ready to come forth.

What I would like to express is the most recent experiences that I have been blessed to have. The other day I held my first ever workshop on taking a journey into the underworld. Within the workshop I reviewed the underworld myths of Persephone and of course Inanna. The basis of the workshop though is centered on Inanna’s descent so I went over in detail every aspect of her story. As I got towards the end of that tale and the beginning of Demuzi’s transition from King to taking Inanna’s place in the underworld I decided that was a good point to stop as that gets to another form of self exploration. I mentioned that Inanna’s ascent and coming upon Demuzi who was not in mourning was symbolic of where the masculine and feminine are today. I was asked to expand upon that and think that it is worthwhile to speak on this today.

When Inanna returned from the underworld followed by the Galla, or the underworld demons, she was tasked with locating another to take her place. She came first upon her handmaiden Ninshubur who had faithfully followed Inanna’s instructions and brought about her return. The Galla proposed to take Ninshubur in Inanna’s place but Inanna said no not Ninshubur who stayed by her side and did as Inanna asked. The Galla agreed and they went on to Umma where they came upon Shara, Inanna’s son who had lamented at her death and disappearance. Upon Inanna’s return he threw himself at her feet and the Galla suggested that they take him in Inanna’s place. Again, seeing her son having paid tribute to her and mourned her loss, Inanna argued for him to be spared. The Galla agreed and they continued on to Badtibira where they came upon Lulal Iannas’ second son. Lulal’s clothes were torn and he was lamenting the loss of his mother Ianna. Ianna would not agree to this and the group moved on still searching for another to take Inanna’s place. Finally they traveled to Inanna’s city where her husband Demuzi sat seated on his throne in his me garments, or the symbols of his power and identity. Having found her husband seemingly acting without remorse or any change whatsoever upon her disappearance Ianna fixed the eye of death upon him. “Spoke against him the eye of wrath. Uttered against him the cry of guilt,” (Wolkstein and Kamer, 1983). This is where I had a significant change in perspective of the relationship between not only Inanna and Demuzi but the masculine and feminine.

As I was preparing for my workshop I read over Diane Wolkenstein’s interpretation of Inanna’s myths from her descent to Demuzi’s taking her place. It was here that I came across Wolensteins’ opinion that Demuzi was still in his role as King without having gone into mourning closing Inanna’s temple due to his position as king. It had not occurred to me that as the King, with the disappearance of Inanna, Demuzi could have fallen to his knees discarding all of his me garments in order to lament for his wife but what did he see as his duties as her husband? As the King?

So there are a multitude of ways to approach this including as her husband who loved her he could have done as her sons and handmaiden did lamenting her death and closing her temples/space. Demuzi may have acknowledged that it was only through his relationship with the Goddess that he was able to become King and without her Demuzi only held the title in name, not practice. Perhaps he could have come to search for Inanna, not ceasing his search until he found her even if it meant traveling to the underworld. Yet, what was Demuzi’s path? With Inanna, she was the one who came from the Gods. She heard the call of the underworld and integrated life with death. Demuzi, as the masculine took the role of duty. Of having to press on even when all that you hold dear and gives you power is no longer present. Did Demuzi feel abandoned by his Queen? Wondering why she would go on this journey of no return?

In light of the current state of the masculine and feminine, I have to look at the possibility that Woklenstein proposed that Demuzi was simply trying to maintain order and keep the world functioning. His response was that of the masculine out of balance missing the feminine and disconnecting from the emotional recognition of one’s life experiences. Inanna’s sons on the other hand represent an alternative response to loss and change. Similar to the way in which the creatures created by Enki to retrieve Inanna commiserated with Erishkigal’s pain and suffering, Shara and Lulal tore their clothes and lamented Inanna’s passing in essence taking the journey into the underworld with her. Thus as the Inanna’s masculine partner, it would only make sense for Demuzi to experience that which she has in order to be her equal explaining why he inherently would take Inanna’s place.

When I look at the behavior of the masculine today, I see folks who are acting from a space of duty and supposed responsibility. Many, regardless of gender identity experience that they have been abandoned by the feminine. That portion of themselves and society which provides a space to feel deeply, express their creativity, receive from others and give freely feels compromised or as if it doesn’t exist at all. In response to this we are hyper-masculine. Sitting upon our thrones as if nothing has happened. Falling back on our identities which give us a resemblance of form and meaning. As such we are being called ourselves to visit the underworld and experience the rebirth of ourselves as whole beings. The throne, whether it be your family, job, home, friends, or purpose being snatched from us forcing us to go within and feel. To experience the all of the feminine. Demuzi witnessed the power of the feminine in it’s Queen of Heaven and Earth form but now he must see her as Ruler of the Underworld. We too must do the same in order to realize that we were never left behind to carry on the best we could. We were given the gift of being whole. Of having a partnership within ourselves and between each other that is not only light but shadow. Whole.

This will begin to happen more rapidly especially as more folks are going within and traveling through the underworld. When they return they will call those around them who have not integrated to take their place and become whole. Let us support each other as this occurs for it will be the main theme of 2017. As a 1 year housed in the masculine we will see many trading places with those who were in the underworld going through their own death. Shall we all rise as whole integrated being beyond the confines of identity as provided by our world at this time.

Here’s to you loves as you rise.
