Full Solar Eclipse In Leo

20170821_153113

Greetings beloveds,

How are you all doing? Do you feel calm, anxious, excited, sad? I spent the eclipse in the waters of the Caribbean feeling the waves and salt cleanse old wounds while clearing away old patterns. I felt the door close on many areas of my life that no longer served me. It felt beautiful and freeing because I knew that my attachment to fixing other people or being the one to heal them. This was a long time coming because I had been moving towards this conclusion for months. Once I have finished my contribution it is time for me to let go and let others have the ability to do their work.

This is was a huge relief to me because I had been feeling guilty for removing myself from certain interactions. I felt the kind thing to do was “to not give up on others! You have to stick with it and support others as they heal”. This is true but that does not mean that I have to be in any contact with that person in order to support them in their healing. In fact, once you energetically agree to the healing of yourself and others, no further work need be done on your part if it is an unhealthy (takes away your energy or causes emotional/mental/psychological harm) connection. Saying no, I do not need to interact with this person further is a signal to the universe that you are valuing your well-being.

20170821_153510Over and over I tried to understand this question about worth and value. I thought it was about material things, which does play its part. What I found was that it was about where do I put my energy? Am I spending time, energy, and money on people, places, items, and experiences that do not feed my soul? That make me feel tired, frazzled, or drained? Do I feel like I HAVE to stay in these situations and if so why? Once I began to look at all interactions as energetic exchanges, I began to ask myself some key questions.

Does that exchange feed me or drain me?

Do I feel like this is an exchange that I value and find worthy of my energy?

These questions help guide me towards when and where to detract and extend my energy. When I started living this way I began to get so much work done! I wrote, explored, made plans, and dreamed of where I wanted to be! I honored my body and spirit. When they called for rest, I rested. When they asked to not be in the presence of other people, I removed myself from the circumstances. This is expressing my worth. This is setting standards in order to honor my value.

One last note, if you find it difficult to set boundaries and uphold them there is work that needs to be done on your solar plexus and throat chakra. You can check out ways to do this throughout The Bliss Institute.

See you Wednesday!

The Enchanted Hearth: Using Your Space to Manifest Your Goals

Space and Goals

Greetings beloveds,

I have been reviewing my goals and what I want. It is valuable to do this often as it ensures that you remain on a path that is taking you towards what you desire. It is not about being overly particular or analytical it is about staying aware. Learning how to go with the flow. This summer we have reviewed many ways to align with the element of water which rules this season. Now, we will look at how to utilize the energy of our space to assist us in manifesting our goals. I will be focusing on career and financial goals as this is my focus for this year until my birthday in October.

First, become aware of your space. You can find the energy of the spaces of your home by laying the Lo Shu Square across your living space and seeing what areas fall into which categories. For me, I will include the entire northern portion of my home which holds the knowledge, career and business, and helpful people energetic centers. I will also want to pay attention to the southern left and center portion of your home as that is where the abundance and fame portions are. The Southern left corner of abundance and wealth must always be well taken care o

  1. Keep these spaces clear of clutter, dirt, or discarded items. It will clog up the movement of energy for you.

The north center portion of your home is the obvious portion to work on if you are wanting to improve your business and career. Place plants there that will thrive. Use gold and green to decorate that space along with any other color that is associated with the career that you are in. For me, I am looking to increase my reach, my revenue, and clarify my products. I am going to saturate this area of my home which is my front door with rose gold, gold, blue, and purple. My work is in energetic and emotional healing services/products so the colors blur and purple are perfect to encourage growth in those areas. The knowledge portion of your home will assist you with learning any of the skills or talents necessary to achieve your goals. Place books, maps, or anything that is associated with what you need to learn about in that section to feed the energy of improvement. Lastly the helpful people section of your home is all about networking and connections which will assist you in manifesting your desires. Often, we think that we have to do it all. That we are the only ones who can make a way for ourselves. That is just not true. There is a role that you must play in all of this but there will always be others who can help carry the load or open doors. You are never in this alone.

Second, use pictures of exactly what you want to manifest into that space. You can create a vision board or any images that you have which are aligned with your goals. I have 3 vision boards that are complete with a 4th that I am still working on. I have found that the clarity that I have on what I desire determines the ability to create a board that reflects the energy of bringing me into alignment with my goals. I will review these during my birthday as I already know some revisions that need to be made. Always keep up with what you are putting out there that you desire.

Third, set an intention in your space. Ask for what you are desiring. Put it out there. We can be so afraid to ask for our dreams because we do not want them to not come true or to feel that we have failed. It’s Leo season!! Be brave beloveds and stretch yourself.

Finally, maintain your space. Keep this space clean, the symbols up to date, and renew your intention over time. Do this periodically perhaps with the cycle of the moon reviewing and cleansing this space every full and new moon.

Let me know how using your space to manifest your goals works for you!

Full Solar Eclipse New Moon in Leo: Initiation Through Fire

New Moon Readings (1)

Greetings beloveds,

Today’s new moon falls on the full solar eclipse. It is a time when the world will be in flux. I implore you to take this time to check in. How do you feel right now? Are you excited, calm, scared, indifferent? Prioritize your health. I won’t try to tell you what you need to be doing to take an active role in changing the energy and direction of the MADNESS that is happening right now in the world but I will say DO SOMETHING. My something is this spiritual work and supporting all causes that are here for equality for everyone. Find something that aligns with what you desire to see come forth that is not based on perpetuating inequality or any isms. Love and light is great but transformation happens in the dark.

I did a quick tarot reading from the Mythical Goddess Tarot deck over the past weekend for the complete solar eclipse that will be the happening during this new moon. I have included the video here.

The first card was Mary Magdalene as Initiation the Devil card in this deck indicating that we are being initiated into a new practice, form, or level of consciousness. As the 15th card, which is traditionally the Devil card, this warns of being mislead by a trickster, our own unhealthy habits, and temptations. What are your challenges at this time? What seduces you to turn a blind eye to that which may bring you joy in the moment but be unhealthy when excessive? Is it fame, money, fear, security? Do not be seduced. Take the medicine, the test, the process and surpass it. The next card was the 5 of Fire- Conflict. Obviously, there has been quite a bit of conflict at this time. Conflict though is not always the negative violent force that everyone associates it with…and sometimes it is. But is it violent for the seed to be broken for the plant to break through? Is it violent for the worm to liquify and then be born again as a butterfly? We see the outcome as beautiful but divorce ourselves from the painful work that had to occur beforehand. Conflict is an established form of change. Sometimes we must die a violent death as Jesus did, as was witnessed by Mary Magdalene as his priestess (depending on your view of their relationship), in order to be reborn anew. Finally, we have the outcome card was the Ace of Earth-Manifestation. From this initiation through fire we will find a new Earth. A new way of interacting with our physical world. We will begin to create again. Now that a portion of who we were has died it is time for us to be reborn. The best advice I have to offer you is buckle up buttercup this is gonna be a bumpy ride.

The general energy for this new moon in Virgo is that of new beginnings and renewal. This is a time in which we must be conscious of what we use, how we treat others, how we treat ourselves. Now is not the time to check out through food, sex, relationships, buying things, exercising, or religion. As they say STAY WOKE. Even when it hurts. Even as you start to see the world around you differently and feel confused or unsure. You realize that you need to take better care of the world around you. You cleanse with smoke from herbs, specifically sage? Where does your sage come from? Is it ethically harvested? Are you using practices without knowledge of their history, culture, or purpose other then what serves your desires? The time of being a passive by stander is over. If you choose to stay there though, not wanting to dive in deep, to stay on the surface, then the cycle will continue. Take this moment to accept the growth. To break out of your shell. To face the shadow. Show that you care through your actions. Energy is not only vibration or words but the body in motion. Let your actions express the love you feel.

Move Like Water: Be Water My Friend

Greetings beloveds,

We have reached the middle of summer when the temperatures are reaching their peak highs while we begin to move toward cooler evenings. During this time may we take a moment to understand what it is to move like water, the element of the season. I felt this could be no better explained then by the great Bruce Lee himself.

The Body as Water: Hydration through Food

Water and the Body

Water is vital for our physical health. Our bodies need water to survive. I could go over all the ways that water is necessary for our bodies to function at their best but I’m going to let you find that information on your own. It’s important for us to recognize that we must take an active role in our lives. That act for you today can be to research what, how, and why our bodies utilize water the way that it does. Drinking water is not the only way to keep ourselves hydrated. There are several water dense foods we can eat to ensure that we are giving our bodies exactly what it needs to so we can optimize our health.

Here are some of my favorites.

  • Watermelon
  • Strawberries
  • Cantaloupe
  • Pineapple
  • Oranges
  • Grapefruit
  • Raspberries
  • Starfruit
  • Baby Carrots
  • Tomatoes
  • Radish
  • Cauliflower
  • Broccoli
  • Cucumbers
  • Iceberg Lettuce
  • Celery
  • Green Peppers
  • Spinach

Reflections: Initiation through Fire

Greetings beloveds,

I hope you all are being well care for, loved, and appreciated. We are getting closer to the eclipse and as we do we are seeing the world shift around us. It is time to choose which path you would like to take. Of love towards all or fear? When I speak of love I do not mean some ambiguous term but the active behavior, idea, emotion, energy which drives our world.

Today I went for a walk through the park. It had been raining off and on leaving the ground damp, the air humid, and the sky grey. I came upon a spider web visible only because of the droplets of water that glistened in the light. We are all connected by strings of energy that weave a web creating this world. This web is not something we can see everyday but now and then there’s a little rain which makes it visible. I walked on past the web leaving the spider in peace. It was not long before I came upon the first piece of trash on the ground. Then more and more. I went along picking up the larger pieces as I came upon them and putting them in the trash cans. My thoughts went back to the spider web and how we are all connected. Then I saw the trash on the ground steps away from a trash can. The cigarette butts that littered the parking lot mixed with fallen leaves and I knew. I knew that just as others had treated the land as their trashcan, we treat ourselves like trash, we treat each other like trash. It’s all tied together. The carelessness in which we treat the world around us is indicative of how we treat each other all based on a lie. The lie of scarcity.

A scarcity mindset sells us the lie that there is not enough love, time, space, food, cars, money, homes, land, water, or life for everyone to be able to thrive. We then are pitted against each other to try to survive because we THINK there is not enough and if one person has something then it is possible that we will not be able to have that thing because there’s only so much to go around. So we begin to view everything as something that can be divided up and owned. Then people are able to be divided up and owned. Then our own time and talents are able to be divided up, sold, and owned by another. This lie of scarcity fuels all the isms. It drives wedges between us pitting us against each other. Can you see the web? Do you see how these all connect?

Today, make the decision to change the design. Create a new web based on abundance, compassion, mindfulness, and empathy. Treat yourself well. Treat each other well. Treat the planet and all of the millions of living beings that inhabit this world well. Then watch the energy shift.

This will not be an easy time. We are going through an initiation globally. It will be a time of death and rebirth through conflict. Here is an Eclipse reading I did to shed some light on the energy that is active during this time.

The Feminine and Nature: A Brief Review

img_5500

Greetings beloveds,

Today I want to share with you an excerpt from a piece of work I did on the subject of the feminine and nature about 5 years ago. I will include the introduction and a very limited discussion of the history on this topic. I will post my reflections on this later this season.

There has been a spirited continuous debate on the subject of women in relation to nature, the environment, or the earth within the ecofeminist and environmental theoretical fields. Questions such as whether this relationship has been created by social, cultural, and/or a patriarchal, colonial, society lie at the center of much of the work that has been done on this topic. Here, I will explore the topic of the naturalization of gender through the environment specifically for women, through several scholarly and popular authors. The writers that will be included in this piece are Carol J. Adams, Jane Bennett, Susan Griffin, Wangari Maathai and Carol Merchant. These writers each contribute to the development of ecofeminist/environmental theoretical development through their interaction with the question of gender and the environment in some form. Yet, each is distinct with particular points of how they determine that this relationship began to occur, whether to embrace or discourage this relationship, and how this relationship effects those who inhabit this planet. This essay will begin by tracing the origins of the woman and nature connection. Then an overview of how this relationship is utilized within a modern context will be covered. Lastly, the relationship between identity and eating habits will be analyzed in order to provide an example of current and possible future theories and analysis on the subject of identity per woman and nature.

The Conception of Being: Women and Nature

That the gendered category of woman has been associated with environment is not a point that is argued against (Griffin ix, Merchant xix). “Women and nature have an age-old association” according to Merchant, which suggests that this idea of a relationship between woman and nature has been prevalent but not a naturally occurring phenomenon (xix). In agreement, Griffin argued that women may have been made more so aware of their relationship to nature than men (x). Thus, because this consciousness brings about an inclination to recognize nature in relation to their being as women, it may appear that women are closer to nature than man, when in fact both man and women hold a connection with nature (Griffin x). Woman’s inherent connection with nature to Griffin, is a socially constructed phenomenon which perpetuated this idea throughout a culture that continuously trains those labeled as woman to recognize and acknowledge this relationship (x).

A review of philosophical and religious history found that the nurturing mother and destructive uncontrollable image of the environment has also been linked with creating a connection between women and the environment according to Merchant (2-3). The nurturing role of nature, in a similar fashion to women, established behavior and thought constraints about how one could treat the environment (Merchant 3). One would not want to treat their mother in an ill manner, so the same was to be applied to nature (Merchant 3). Since organic cosmology saw all things including the self, society, the earth, and its’ inhabitants as interrelated, treating the planet well would mean that the planet in turn would return that favor and continue to yield bountiful resources to those who inhabited the earth (Merchant 8).

In order to tame both the environment and the nature of woman, mechanism eventually became the prominent thought system (Merchant 2). Philosophically, woman evolved from a passive provider of matter to matter being separated from woman and having the ability to be active on its own (Merchant 13, 122, 157). As the idea of woman and her role in fertility developed so did that of nature’s role in providing resources. Nature changed from being seen as an active being to that of particles that could be separated, examined, identified, and then controlled allowing for order and power to be wielded towards nature by man (Merchant 216). As the understanding of woman to nature changed so did that of women in relation to man.

The establishment of the male as rational and women as emotional is another idea that Griffin attempts to work through (xiii). Griffin links this to one of the many ways in which women being understood to be closer to nature then men has been propagated throughout time (xiii). Patriarchal thought has placed men as the objective, unaffected by emotion, rational self (Griffin xiii). Patriarchy is an integral part of the western mindset which also includes individuality that seeks absolute truth and authority (Griffin xiv). To illustrate the standoffishness of the western patriarchal voice, Griffin’s work begins with observations stated as the outwardly objective perhaps even empirical scientific voice (if many of these categories are not one and the same) on the topic of nature (2). Yet at the same time lets another voice be heard that holds sentiment in its observations and in no way attempts to be objective that can be seen as the female voice’s take on the same situations which are remarked on by the male (2).

Moon Phases: Waning Gibbous in Pisces

autumn moments (1)

Greetings beloveds,

Today the moon is 94% illuminated in the sign of Pisces. While the moon is in Pisces we find ourselves in a dreamy state. Aquarius asked us to think outside the box and begin to mentally construct our life’s design. Now we pull the soul into the conversation which holds our spiritual knowledge that exists outside of time. Pisces feels it’s way to a solution. This energy today will not allow anything that does not align with what is in your heart to remain in your presence. If you find yourself emotionally reacting to others, crying over puppy or cat videos, expressing anger, frustration, happiness, or unbridled joy-that is the moon in Pisces showing you the areas in your life that are either in need of healing or are healed. Pay attention to everything that elicits an intense reaction from you. Those are the parts of your life that need to be examined through therapy, mindfulness, or other modalities.

If you find yourself not having noticeable emotional responses to experiences today that’s perfectly normal. Perhaps the Pisces moon is drawing you inward to focus on your dreams. Take a swim with the Pisces fishes without any limitations. Sometimes when our lives feel too painful we attempt to not feel by numbing our emotions with things like food, drama, sex, tv, books, sports, cars, or whatever takes our mind off of what we do not want to feel. Being creative allows for us to explore our desires. So take a nap, a walk, talk with a friend that you are on good terms with, journal, or just sit for a moment. This is the perfect time to reconnect with your deepest desires that you might have disconnected from. Today you can experience internally what following your heart could bring you.  When you come upon a choice or an interest see if it makes your heart smile or feel a bit down. If your heart feels warm and light follow that path. Tomorrow the moon will move into Aries and you can begin to birth your dream into reality.
