December: Death, Blessings, and Rebirth

Greetings beloveds,

December has arrived and it’s blowing in with lots of change to create a new world for us. This month on the Bliss Institute we will be exploring the final Goddesses of Life and Death along with the shadow of their world: the Underworld. We will also delve deeply into root chakra work with more breath exercises and movements. Finally we will close this month with our Winter Solstice readings and predictions.

Although this is the shortest intro for a month I’ve ever written, this time will be chock full of powerful information and practices. I cannot wait to finish the year with you all.

Welcome to the time of rebirth, Hello December!

The Divination Toolkit: The Planets-Venus the Goddess of Love and Life

Greetings beloveds,

It’s Friday, Viernes, Vendredi, Vernadi, or Venus’s Day. Oh the Planet Venus. Does this recall thoughts of a bright being clothed in gossamer fabrics emerging ethereally from the foaming shores of the sea. Perhaps she is a rocker gal clothed in all black, sensual, sexual, and powerful. Maybe she is the pinned up and proper lady of the house or business woman who’s softness is found not perhaps in her immediate manner but in the steadfast way she handles her daily tasks. I’m sure many of you do not think of Venus like the last two examples but she is there nonetheless. Venus as an archetype, is the sibling of the moon. Venus calls forth energy of love in all it’s many forms and all that love calls forth from us. Platonic, romantic, agape, jealously, beauty, forgiveness, healing, stress, anxiety, joy, kindness, lack, and abundance. Venus does not need to announce her arrival her very presence is enough to draw your attention. Her energy is of attraction, and charm. Above all else, Venus is fair and just. That which we deserve, we will get. Love is available to us all but we must be willing to be vulnerable and open to receiving it.

Venus is associated with several Goddesses including Isis, Inanna, Ishtar, Astarte, Aphrodite, Freya, and Quetzalcoatl. As the brightest planet in the sky, after the sun and the moon, Venus served as a guide and great influence to early civilizations. When looking to the sky Venus can be seen even during the day depending on the weather and other factors. Venus shines brightly providing hope and strength with it’s presence. If the sun gives life during the day and represents the conscious and the moon takes us into death and the unconscious during the night, then Venus is the emotional bridge between life and death. The emotional link between the conscious and the unconscious. As the unconscious is the start of manifestation, Venus represents how are emotions affect our manifestations while the conscious is the awareness of what has been created. When we are disconnected from our emotions we are disconnected from our ability consciously manifest. Heart opening exercises are a great way to begin to heal that connection between conscious and unconscious, soul and mind, body and spirit.

Love is always desired but how it is found, what it calls us to do, and how it affects us overall is not always the soft glow of care and tenderness. Sometimes it is hot, fast, and pleasurable. Other times cold and confusing. It depends on what we experience and where we are. Venus is not about the what comes from love but the impetuous that comes from love. Love is the basis of all. Love is what leads us to life. Life then allows us to explore love in all it’s many forms.

This is the first of many posts to come on the Planet Venus. Let me know what specific information you would like to know about connecting to this ancient archetype such as rituals, crystals, herbs, or how she interacts with other Planets.

Have beautiful day loves,

Decorating the Home for the Celebration Season

Decorating for Celebrations

Greetings beloveds,

I have been prepping for Thanksgiving and know soon I will changing the decorations for Winter Solstice and New Years. Although my mother is the real tactile artist in our family (my sis is the musical genius), I did learn from her how to create a cozy home for the various seasons. Here’s some of my tips for quick and easy ways to decorate your home for the celebration season.

  • Add or change your throws, blankets, or afghans on your couches or beds. You can add green, red, gold, silver, or patterns that reflect your favorite seasonal trends.
  • Create a tablescape in the colors that you associate with this season. I have a simple china pattern for Thanksgiving with fall colored charges, a fall themed table cloth, and green napkins. I then change to my Winter Solstice china from Mikasa, a gold brocade tablecloth, and white napkins. You can be as elaborate or simple as you like.
  • Purchase small signs from your favorite store with sayings such as joy, thankful, grateful, peace, or any other saying that you find to put you in the mood for the season.
  • Another great way to decorate is to add candles, essential oil diffusers, or melts with seasonal scents. Smell is such a powerful sense which can be used to create atmosphere and memories.

Sometimes we have difficulty during the holidays because of painful memories. Although we cannot change the past, we can make the present delightful to create new memories. These small changes make powerful opportunities to be a new person to embrace what has been and become who we desire to be. Take the time and make this season magical for you. You’re worth it.

The Power of Gratitude: Foods for Giving Thanks

Untitled design

Greetings beloveds,

We are nearing the time of giving thanks and gathering with our loved ones. Gratitude can change your life. It shifts the way that we see what happens for us. Often we get into just go mode. We make a plan and we move towards it. Checking off boxes, deciding that what matters most is how much one get’s done, how much one makes, how much one does or does not spend. Setting the intention to focus on what we are grateful for will not make the things that are not turning out the way we desired go away. Nor does it mean that we ignore all of the crappy injustices that are happening in our lives. Taking time for gratitude is about acknowledging what is going right despite what is going wrong.

Yesterday on November 16th, I started a 28 Days of gratitude. For 28 Days I will be posting on my social media platforms one thing I grateful for. This exercise will shift my energy, make me appreciate what I have, and create opportunities to think outside the box of how I approach life.

Join me in this challenge using #28DaysofGratitude or #28DoG for short.

I look forward to seeing you there!

New Moon in Scorpio: As Above So Below-The Journey through the Underworld

New Moon Readings (1)Greetings beloveds,

How are you enjoying your time in the underworld loves? Is it everything you thought it would be? We have been diving deeper into our shadow as we have gotten further into fall. What did you find from your investigation of your relationship to home, security, stability, and sensuality? Where do you feel that your inquiries have brought you? Did you just discover more questions to explore? Perhaps it was a pleasant surprise to meet your unconscious? Or maybe sexy, funny, natural, frightening? Did it feel like home? The full moon in Taurus helped us to connect to ourselves as home. Now we move into a new moon in Scorpio.

Scorpio is the second water sign in the zodiac. Like it’s partner Taurus, Scorpio is a fixed sign continuing the journey started by the first water sign Cancer. Where Cancer explores the surface of our emotions, Scorpio ventures underneath our obvious emotional state to see what lies at the core of who we are. Water and Earth signs might find it easier to cope with the time it takes to explore and connect with our shadow sides. With the Sun moving into Sagittarius there is a pull to move forward. To find out the why and how to finish this shadow work so we can return to the surface. Yet, it is not quite Sagittarius’s time. We have a year of Jupiter in Scorpio. Go ahead and get comfortable here in this space of deep thought, feelings, and being because the best trips cannot be rushed.

Scorpio and Taurus have come together this month to fulfill the axiom of as above so below, as within so without. The great journey into the underworld is upon us. Hekate lights the way so embrace your fear of the unknown. It is here that creation begins and your true self can be free. We have lived our lives as if we are not always connected to the spiritual world. As if the world around us is not directly tied to the divine. The false separation of the mundane from the profane which has been perpetuated by our need to feel as if we cannot be free to live out our desires for fear of judgement, ridicule, and punishment. Pass through the seventh gate. Face the judgement of your true self. See them fully in all that they are as protector, lover, creator, friend, enemy, deceiver, yourself. Accept your shadow and continue on the journey of integration and actualization.

This journey will not be easy or without pit falls. Keep your head up things will get easier in December. You are always supported, especially by your shadow. Get on its side and see your life transform before your eyes.
