Monster Lover or The Path to Radical Self Acceptance: Total Lunar Eclipse Full Moon in Virgo

Hi my loves,

A friend and mentor asked me if I was going to have a post about the eclipse. I couldn’t help but laugh as I told her I had several blog posts, but hadn’t really shared a lot about them. I have been sitting with this energy. Knowing that there was a message and direction that it was taking me, but not sure of the destination just yet.

I have already been pleasantly surprised with the way that my Pisces lunar eclipse post was so spot on. It’s been a lot of fun watching the cycles play out over time. That’s why I started the Nodes Across Time series. All of my years of astrology knowledge and education have been fortified by experience. Not just observing, but living.

So let’s chat about this lunar eclipse in the sign of Virgo on the personal level. To do that, let’s start with Pisces.

The new eclipse cycle started last year in the sign of Pisces. Coinciding with the impact of the active Aries/Libra nodal axis. The archetypes of the Self and the Other have been at the forefront of our thoughts with this transit.

Last year’s Pisces full moon lunar eclipse was a preview of where we are now. This includes the work of connecting to our dreams, passions, visions for ourselves, and spirituality. Or leaning into escapism and delusions while hoping that a savior will magically appear and make everything better. On the opposing axis, we have Virgo. The Magician has shifted from its exploration of information in Gemini as mutable Air, to the application and sharing of this knowledge in Virgo as mutable Earth.

Pisces is the connection to Source through our sacred and mundane practices that create the bridge to our dreams. Virgo is the practical skills and changes needed to make those dreams come true.

I like to call Virgo the assessor. Related to the archetypes of the Hermit, the Virgin, Mercury the god and planet, the teacher, and the student, Virgo is a complex sign regardless of our desire to paint it with stereotypes of perfectionist and judgmental. In Virgo, we see the reality of who we are as Source embodied. We see that without action or a plan, dreams are just dreams. Virgo wakes us up to say look around you. What needs to change for you to make your dreams a reality? Virgo gives us the ability to discern between what is, works for us, and what doesn’t.

When we are open to it, Virgo leads us to discerning between the mess that strengthens us and the mess that keeps us stuck in the same cycles. What needs to be cleared up and what doesn’t.

That’s a healthy way of approaching this time. Yet, we may be pulled towards some unhealthy perspectives. Perhaps we can see the vision and believe that we have to do whatever it takes to get there. To be perfect. Perfection is where Libra and Virgo meet. Libra may try to find the perfect balance and peace of mind. To find justice for some wrong that has occurred. A circumstance where they will never need to use the wisdom they learned from the nodes moving from Scorpio into their sign. It’s a form of avoidance. In Libra, this often looks like avoiding conflict or confrontation. When we encounter Virgo times, we may try to make the world around us or ourselves perfect like we know it can be from our connection to Pisces. We feel that urge to perfect and correct as our awareness of Source within us grows.

We’ll chat more about perfectionism and how Virgo/Pisces times can reveal where we use escapisms which can turn into addictions over the next year. Just know, this can be a huge part of the inner work that is needed to find embodied security.

Perfection is unrealistic. The antonym of Virgo energy. It is striving for something that we know we will never reach. And as they say, perfection is the enemy of completion. We’ll discuss Virgo’s connection to completion in a bit. For now consider these questions:

  • But did we try? Truly try?
  • Did we put forth true effort to align what we see around us with what the vision could be?
  • Where can we accept that we and the world will never be perfect, but we put in effort to be the best that we could?

Accepting that perfection is unobtainable, helps us to release the shame around not meeting this arbitrary standard. It gives us the language to respond to that voice within us that says we are a failure, a loser, and not good enough.

It is a continuation of the outcome of the north node moving through the zodiac going back to its time in Taurus. Do you feel worthy? Do you feel secure? Do you experience inner peace? And when this occurs, can you listen to that quiet instinctual voice that sends you guidance?

If you find yourself questioning your self-worth, feeling that you are without direction. Go back to 2022-23. What was going on as the north node moved through Taurus? Did you feel at peace? Were you externally secure with housing, food, safety, and relationships? Did you experience embodied security? I define embodied security as having an awareness of what peace and safety feel like in your body combined with the tools to bring yourself back to that state when you become activated or triggered. What lessons and wisdom did you need to put into practice from the south node in Scorpio?

Now look at what just occurred with Aries and Libra. Do you feel clear about who you are? What defines your sense of Self? Where have you been compromising your inner peace to maintain your connections and relationships?

The shift into Pisces brings us closer to our dreams through our connection with our spirituality and Source. Pisces north node times emphasize we are connected to infinite wisdom, power, and love. That our dreams are not something that has to remain in our minds, souls, and hearts. With the help of Virgo, we can make those dreams into a reality. If we can release the need to make the ideal and the ideals of those around us (remember, this is the time to be true to yourself and not let others overwhelm you) the standard upon which we judge ourselves.

The Virgin is an archetype of Virgo. Not virgin like someone who has not had sex, but virgin as in has gone through a process of transformation. In most cases, this is a cleansing or clarifying process. In alchemy, this happens as they are determining what are the impurities that strengthen or weaken the substance. Those that weaken or will make the outcome not what they desire are removed. Those that will strengthen or bring them closer to their desired outcome remain. The Virgin is not without sin, judgment, imperfections, or problems. The Virgin is simply whole unto themselves. Without the need for an additional outside force to complete them.

Virgo in balance

  • receives the vision of Pisces
  • recognizes that Source resides within them
  • knows that they don’t need to be perfect, just try their best
  • loves themselves with all of their flaws

When we are in Virgo times, we act. We put into action the changes that need to happen to bring us closer to wholeness. The ability to see what would bring the external and internal to completion helps point us toward how we can serve. The Servant is another archetype of Virgo. Serving or providing care to others through a Virgo lens is tied to our great work or purpose. The areas where we can move from the imperfect to the ideal may be where we can excel in our purpose or work. This leads to the question: what skills or specialty do you need to do that work? That’s where you put your attention. That’s where you put that active energy.

Lastly, just as Pisces connects us with our spirit and Source, Virgo also honors this connection in two ways. First by recognizing this energy within ourselves and secondly by connecting us with guides who have mastered the skills in the area in which we are to serve. Remember the archetype of the Hermit? The Hermit, the 9th card in the major arcana in tarot, represents taking a break from the world as we know it to contemplate and integrate what we have learned through the previous cards of the Fool’s Journey. The Hermit carries a lit torch with him. In tarot, this lit torch may represent that the Hermit is not meant to stay isolated or on sabbatical. One day we will return and share the wisdom we have gained in our time apart with others. We become the teacher, the mentor, the guide. This may be the space you find yourself in, a space of becoming and transforming. Whether teacher or student, Source or Virgin, the Pisces/Virgo axis reinforces these universal truths – we are truly never alone and we are deeply loved.

This full moon in Virgo, can you see the faults, the ways that you aren’t perfect and love yourself anyway? What about others? Can you see how things could be better or different and love them anyway? While loving yourself and the world around you, can you apply that dream and vision of what could be, to what is, to determine what work needs to be done? What skills do you need to accomplish this? Who can help guide you in learning and mastering those skills? Or is it time for you to become the teacher?

That’s all for now my loves. We will get further into this path over the next year and a half.

With love,

Kamilah Rose
