Full Moon in Leo: The Inner Gravity of It All

Hi my loves,

Today is the full moon in Leo. This is one of my favorite full/new moons as a natal Leo moon. To be honest, I always found this placement to be confusing to understand. What does it mean for your psychological and emotional waves to be Leo-like?

Leo is ruled by the Sun, associated with the King, royalty, and the inner child’s joy. From an inner work/life/play perspective, Leo is associated with the conscious part of us that is able to mediate between the unconscious beastly parts of us to bring about transformation, which leads to joy. This is seen in the Strength card, where a woman uses her hands to hold or touch the open mouth of a Lion. Her hat is similar to that of the Magician, giving her a magical connection.

Anytime the moon is in Leo, we feel the energy of Leo: the desire to shine, be seen, and receive recognition from those around us. It is a playful, childlike energy that, when balanced, is not caught up in ego. Children play and call for their caregivers to witness them, share the wonder of these new experiences that they may be having for the first time, and acknowledge a new part of their becoming.

Yet, like parents, sometimes the audience does not respond. They do not quiet down when lights lower and the spotlight comes on. Wrong audience. Wrong stage. The ego goes unnoticed and can respond in several ways. But all of those responses impact the initial sharing of self.

If a part of you has been repressed, pushed down into the unconscious it may reveal itself through emotional and physical activations. You may find yourself smiling harder, trying to be better, or attempting to not draw attention at all. Perhaps you are louder, so you can’t be ignored.

Going within will reveal the root of the unmet need so that the light of the inner child can shine through.

Remember, the Sun was not always a star. It went through a journey of becoming just as you are. And perhaps, the Sun is not a star now. It may have already collapsed. Yet, it’s light continues to shine on.

Even if you are in a space where it feels like everything is falling apart around you, one day, they will come together. Your inner aspects, like space particles, gain weight and like matter are drawn together through a gravitational pull. And each time you incorporate those unconscious parts of yourself you shine a little bit brighter. Just like the Sun.

Take courage, my loves! Face your fears and see what lies on the other side.

As for this specific full moon in Leo, responsibility is a large theme.

  • Accepting responsibility for what you do, say, and believe.
  • What is it that drives your actions, beliefs, and words?
  • Is it what you truly believe or are you being oppositional?
    • Rebelling for the sake to rebel?
    • Seeking power just to have power?
    • Demanding obedience and subservience because your ego tells you it is owed to you?
  • What is the root?

This full moon in Leo, in combination with the other planetary placements, teaches us the importance of learning to compromise. To act as experts, we need experience. Don’t avoid the call because of fear of failure, being laughed at, or rejection. Face the fear so that this conflict between the ego and your fears won’t be projected onto others.
