Hi, my loves,
Happy Full Moon in Gemini!
Transits: Sun in Sagittarius in opposition to the Moon in Gemini
This transit signals that it’s time to find our faith. We are asked to explore what we believe in and how this can support our expansion. Where do we need to grow, and how do we find our target to aim for? That is the tension created between the arrow and the bow as we are pulling back the string once the arrow is notched. But what does all of that energy matter if we do not have a clear shot or know where to aim? If our bodies are out of alignment and our mind is unable to focus?
November and December have become inundated with narratives around prepping for the new year, locking in, and the winter arc. We set personal intentions and goals, make vision boards, design personal curricula, and identify professional KPI’s (key performance indicators). All actions that are intended to help us clarify our path forward and stay on track. Yet, Sagittarius season gallops in, snatching our attention towards WHO, WHY, and WHERE our attention is focused. That is the role of the new moon in Gemini.
This new moon is another chance to reset. The moon in Gemini brings our hearts back on board through curiosity and play. Gemini, as mutable air, supports Sagittarius as mutable fire. Gemini provides the oxygen for the fire to burn through its curiosity for life, willingness to learn, and desire to transform. Gemini, as the twins represent our conscious and unconscious coming together to investigate our external and internal realities, provides us with the language and knowledge to express ourselves. Sagittarius then takes that information to form a framework through which we share our understanding with others. This is how we create and revise our personal philosophy, beliefs, and purpose. Sagittarius is our final fire sign before we return to Aries, cardinal fire. Whereas Aries is survival and how we respond to external threats (real and imagined), and Leo is our expression of our creative spark through which our desires are shared, Sagittarius is our ability to channel this fire into growth and expansion through our beliefs put into action. We do not just let our spirit go out. We feed our inner fire with knowledge and wisdom gained through its opposition within Gemini.
Saturn and Neptune (retrograde) are still in Pisces. Hopefully, you have discovered your spiritual routine and cleaned your conscious lens to gaze into your unconscious. And as it is Sagittarius season, let us expand the category of spiritual to include anything that aligns with your beliefs, values, brings you closer to self, source, and the other. Your spirituality is defined only by your acceptance of what you believe it to be. You’ve been challenged over the past year and a half to examine where you have gotten out of alignment. This has exposed the beliefs and practices that keep your soul imprisoned. We have discovered the places where the connection between the self and source is distorted through following Neptune’s path of clearing our conscious lens into our unconscious. This is a time to get real. Wake up, look around, and take stock of what is happening around you. It is from there, a space of truth and presence, that we can then bring our dreams to life.
The Mercury in Scorpio trine supports that truth. It gives us the courage to go deep within and be honest about our feelings, experiences, hopes, fears, dreams, pain, and wishes. This includes what we have inherited emotionally, physically, mentally, and spiritually. We carry the joys and traumas of our ancestors who have come before us. This sets a baseline for how we respond unconsciously to the world around us. But it is only a set point. We determine our threshold for healing and growth, or pain and stagnation. Saturn in Pisces has exposed the face of the beast within our psyche, but it has also revealed the appealing prince/princess that is its partner. Liz Greene in Saturn, a New Look at an Old Devil, states that Saturn, “is not merely a representative of pain, restriction, and discipline; he is also a symbol of the psychic process…by which an individual may utilize the experiences of pain, restriction, and discipline as a means for greater consciousness and fulfillment”. What has been discovered during Mercury in Scorpio’s quest is ready to be integrated if we are brave enough to identify the ideal and aim towards it.
We are preparing to enter into the depths of winter. Winter is Saturn’s season. Venus hands over the reigns of power to the Wise Elder Saturn, the planet exalted in Cardinal Air’s sign Libra. The very sign which opened the doors for us to enter into the underworld. It starts with Venus in Sagittarius, joining in this trine to Saturn and Neptune in Pisces. Here, Venus is close enough to Scorpio energy to carry with it that fixed water into mutable fire. Venus in Scorpio supports our facing the truth of what we unconsciously believe about our relationships and connections. We are called to retrieve the suppressed and repressed desires that our families, friends, and society have told us are not appropriate. Those related to what our sexual needs are and how our sexuality can serve as a connection for healing or pain. This also includes our attitudes and fears towards death. Many beliefs are framed around a response to death whether that is what will happen to us when we die, how to avoid death, or finding peace with death’s inevitability. Another area this energy covers is our relationship to money. There are many ways this shows up, including keeping up appearances when it comes to our finances or spending beyond our means as a way to alleviate our anxiety and get a rush of dopamine.
- What, personally, have you found to be your unconscious stories around taboo subjects that do no actual harm to yourself or others?
- Death
- Money
- Health/Disease
- Sex
- Drugs
- Trauma
- What have you uncovered and re-membered for yourself?
Lastly, this is further supported through Jupiter retrograding through Cancer.
- What actually makes us feel loved, cared for, and held?
- Where have we realized that healing our mother wound will begin to turn the wheel to shift our relationship to our inner aspects that have issues in relationships with other women, our own femininity, and our ability to receive and give love?
- What makes us feel safe and secure?
- Where have we realized that healing our father wound will turn the wheel to shift our relationship towards our inner aspects that have issues with taking initiative, safety, and security, and expressing displeasure?
Jupiter in Cancer has been expanding our ability to receive. To see all the places where care and love exist within our lives. This transit asks, how can we connect to our own inner resource, which thrives from a fountain of love like that of the Ace of Cups? While Jupiter is in retrograde, it is our time to examine what we have discovered. Do we like what we have created, or are there more adjustments that need to be made? Have we allowed ourselves to dip our inner chalice into the stream of source, or are we still using only a spoon or just the tiny tip of our toe? Jupiter retrograde in Cancer is the Temperance card in action. Where can we find balance?
There is an air of frustration with these efforts. Mars in Sagittarius longs to be free. The weight of Saturn and Neptune in Pisces is burdensome. Responsibility, trial, and self-discipline, reliant upon commitment to a practice that feeds our soul, may seem like a cage or trap. Yet, mutable fire and water come together here again, with Mars being just far enough along to have released all of the helpful Scorpio energy that creates a trine and stepping fully into Sagittarius fire. While water and fire are opposing energies, water helps to keep fire in check. Fire can heat water, warming the molecules and transforming them. Fire can lighten up the heaviness of water’s energy when the pressure of its depths becomes too much. Mars taps into your will; let it. Put this wisdom you have gained into action.
Lastly, we have Uranus retrograding through Taurus. We know this energy as Uranus just moved into Gemini earlier this year. What have we learned so far about the importance of communicating our needs by embracing the wisdom of the form? This is a time to reconfirm what brings us peace within the body.
- What activates our survival responses?
- How do we mitigate that?
- What have you been needing to change in order to no longer be in an environment that causes your body to be stressed? Did you move? Change your job? Take up new hobbies and recovery practices?
- How did these connect with your spiritual practices?
- What we are finding is that this is all connected. The spiritual, physical, emotional, and mental all come together to create a healthier way of life.
That is all on the microlevel, though. On the macro level, where have you needed to be honest with yourself and others that the current systems in place are not working to support everyone’s ability to thrive, experience care, have their physical needs met, and find mental peace? This is exemplified in our last transit, with Jupiter in Cancer in Opposition to Pluto in Aquarius. Pluto in Aquarius always widens the lens. This work that we do internally is about more than just our own well-being. It is about creating a world that is better for all. Here, we examine how our community functions to support us. Pain, trauma, and transformation are available to us wherever Pluto is. In Aquarius, this looks like transmuting the pain of generations in order to end that cycle within our society. But to do that, we must do our own inner work, individuate, and become whole again.
