Hi, my loves,
Today, Venus moves behind the Sun in the sign of Capricorn. I have thoroughly discussed Capricorn as Cardinal Earth, but here is a quick refresher for those who are unfamiliar. Capricorn is associated with Saturn, the planet of time, restriction, form, and discipline. Archetypically, this is the energy of the wise elder within us who can offer us insights and direction. When Venus is in Capricorn, we find ourselves examining our relationships and connections to determine if we are still willing to commit to them. When Venus experiences a superior conjunction in Capricorn, we become aware of where our commitments are out of alignment. We begin to feel within our bodies that there is a part of us that we have lost connection to. This part calls to us through aridity or dryness overcomes us from spending too long conforming to goals and expectations defined by external sources. Our parents, society, partners, popular culture, and our spirituality can shape us into figures who require us to dis-member ourselves. We cry out for nourishment and refreshment, the call of Jupiter moving through Cancer. A call to re-member the parts of ourselves we left in the unconscious.
Over the past season, we have journeyed through the signs of Libra, Scorpio, and Sagittarius. Receiving invitations to balance the scales, transform, and identify our core beliefs. The Gemini full moon centered our curiosity, igniting our attention and awareness. This was then sharpened and directed through the mutable fires of Sagittarius, who, like the overwhelming heat of the forge, revealed our brittleness or strength of belief. Then the Cancer full moon once again asked us to be honest about our needs. That Cancerian energy is calling us to identify what being cared for, nurtured, loved, and safe means for us by locating the ancestral and personal narratives that guide us.
Now, we sit firmly in the energy of Capricorn. Sagittarius fire, having transformed us from the molten remains of the Scorpio phoenix, to a steady new form. As I stated, Saturn rules our forms, but as cardinal Earth, this is a time when a new version of ourselves can be created. The basis of what we are becoming at this time depends upon our beliefs, as they determine the mountain or work that we dedicate ourselves to. Saturn rewards dedication, but it also requires discernment found only through practice and commitment to truth (our lesson from Libra and Scorpio). For we may achieve the greatest of accolades and heights, but what does that matter if we reach the top only to find we have climbed the incorrect mountain?
Venus takes its themes of relationships, connections, values, and discernment, which show up in Capricorn as commitment, which requires discipline. It is the individual who desires to build a life with their partner (s). One that takes focused, sustained energy and effort (work) to mature into their vision of success.
Over the next three days, an astrological shift is occurring. As Venus is reborn as the Evening Star, we will explore where our work needs refinement through the sacrifice or making sacred of our time, energy, or commitments to woo the powerful winds that scorch us psychologically. For as Sagittarius has taught us, temperance or the use of opposing elements is the path towards fortitude. A strength which is necessary to face our destructive tendencies and access the gifts waiting for us within.
With love,
Kamilah Rose
