The Sun – Mars Conjunction in Capricorn: Aligning Will, Identity, and Long-Term Vision

Mars in Capricorn

Hi, my loves,

Yesterday, Venus and Mars came together in their celestial dance. Today, Mars meets the Sun in it’s conjunction.

Here’s a recap of Mars in Capricorn from the Venus and Mars conjunction post. You can read the full write-up HERE.

Mars in Capricorn

This placement gives us a relentless drive to accomplish great feats. Mars directs our inner will towards dedication and commitment to our great work. What we decide to focus this energy towards is where we can experience great success or a feeling that we have spent our time climbing the wrong hill.

Mars directs us to accomplish works aligned with our greatest strengths, values, and aspirations. To best understand how this impacts us, we go to our natal chart. Our natal chart reveals the areas that we will find the peaks to climb and the depths to explore, which will give us that sense of time well spent. The subject of the mountain is not what is important. One can dedicate oneself to anything. It is the fit of that commitment.

What is even more important is our ability to course correct when we find ourselves climbing the incorrect mountain or taking the wrong trail.

  • Can you identify the markers that let you know you are on the right path?
  • How easily is it for you to change direction, find a new path, or go back to the beginning and start over?

Here we meet the shadow of Mars, pride and stubbornness.

  • I will face my fear of failure and not allow myself to remain in commitments longer than necessary to avoid feelings of shame, embarrassment, anger, or sadness.
  • I recognize that anger is not the only emotion I can use to motivate myself. I will explore and find other ways to maintain my passion.
  • I will be aware of projecting anger onto others and see this as an invitation to examine the correct fitness of this connection.
  • I will not run away from my greatness. I will allow feelings of overwhelm or fear to reveal where adjustments are needed.
  • I will not stay in situations because the familiar feels safer than the unknown, which could result in conflict.

Quitting your job, changing careers, going back to school, divorce, marriage, having children, asking for childcare assistance, moving, buying or selling a home, and committing to a lifelong passion are all mountains worthy of being climbed. It is up to us to assess if they are the correct ones for us.

Mars here gives us the advantage of singular focus, concentration, strategy, and courage to continue where others would give up when faced with difficulties. As long as we are on the right mountain or in the correct ocean, we can keep going and achieve success. This reveals the other shadow of Mars in Capricorn, ignoring our own well-being to achieve a goal. We must remember that self-care is not an option. It is a priority so that when we complete our goals, we are healthy enough to enjoy them.

Mars-Sun Conjunction

When Mars and the Sun come together, we have a meeting between the warrior and royalty. Our will and consciousness are united as one. This is a powerful connection that, when directed in alignment with our greatness, can move mountains. This combination encourages us to limit distractions and focus. To have an intense awareness of our time, energy, and commitments. Use the Venus-Mars conjunction energy to determine what is the correct mountain to ascend and to let go of connections that are misaligned.

We will meet the shadow of Mars and the Sun here. Our pride and ego will attempt to protect us. True power comes from being honest where we are, what we desire, how we feel, and what we need. Have the courage to be honest with yourself so that you can be upfront with others. Otherwise, you may find yourself committed to relationships, projects, and goals that are incorrect for you.

These Capricorn conjunctions are creating oppositional energy to Jupiter’s retrograde through Cancer. We must assess and honor our need for care, love, and security. This may require us to do deep emotional and mental healing. There may be aspects of ourselves that have become fragmented, requiring integration. For instance, you may be disconnected from or overly identified with the warrior or inner leader (King/Queen). If you find yourself responding to blockages or change with excessive aggression, tension, or sadness, it is time to have an open dialogue with your inner warrior. Or if you are sensitive to criticism, rejection, or are always seeking the approval of others – time to chat with that inner leader.

The wise elder of Capricorn has a word for you if you are willing to listen. One that will enhance your ability to achieve your wildest dreams. Even those you haven’t even dreamt of yet. But it requires a commitment to yourself first. A commitment of honesty.
