Greetings beloveds,
We are in the final hours before the seasons shift and we find ourselves within the darkness of the underworld, awaiting transformation and rebirth.
Winter solstice occurs in the Northern Hemisphere early Saturday morning on December 21st. The solstice astrologically is marked by the Sun entering the sign of Capricorn.
Fall may be my favorite season, but winter is such a delight as we allow ourselves to rest and plan for the following year. We find ourselves literally and metaphorically going within, seeking warmth and comfort.
Winter solstice energetically marks reaching the depths of the underworld or unconscious. Here we are met with the parts of ourselves that we have cut off or repressed. What happens when we face the darkness? Everyone’s experience will be different. We get glimpses of this variety in the many myths and fairytales around the world featuring descents, the underworld, winter, and death.
