Greetings beloveds,
I’ve been writing a bit about food during the colder season here in the Northern Hemisphere and thought that now would be a great time to share some quick recipes I use to make some winter treats.
Hot Chocolate: 2-3 Servings
5 heaping tablespoons of cacao powder or 1 cup of semisweet chocolate baking chips
Dash of cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves
pinch of salt (pink Himalayan sea salt if you have it)
3-4 Cups of your favorite milk substitute
honey or other sweetener to taste
Combine all ingredients in a small or medium saucepan over low heat stirring frequently until all ingredients are combined. Let your hot chocolate continue to heat until at your desired temperature.
If you would like to get fancy throw in some marshmallows or use a cinnamon stick to add some depth to your yummy dish.
I fix this on cold winter evenings when I am wanting to feel well taken care of and wrapped up in warmth. It is often said that food that is prepared with love tastes better to those who consume it. For me this is a dish that always reminds me of times when I was younger and all was safe in the world. Find that dish that holds those feelings and memories for you. Make the commitment to prepare this for yourself at least every so often. When we consciously take time to care for ourselves it is not only a message to the universe that we mater but also a form of resistance to enact for all those who may attempt to have oppressed you at any point.
Remember you matter.
With love,
Rose
