Enchanted Hearth: Harvest Season-Fall Foods

My favorite season is here. Although this time of year has become bombarded by pumpkin spice everything, there’s more to fall than pumpkin. Here’s a list of the vegetables, fruits, and herbs that are in season during the fall.

Vegetables:

Acorn squash, arugula, beets, Belgian endive, broccoli, brussels sprouts, butter lettuce, buttercup squash, butternut squash, carrots, cardoon, cauliflower, celery, chayote squash, chicories, chilies, Chinese long beans, delicate squash, daikon radish, edamame, eggplant, endive, fennel, garlic, ginger, jalapeno peppers, artichokes, jujube, hearts of palm, horseradish, kale, leeks, lemongrass, muscadine, ong choy spinach, okra, onions, peppers, radicchio, rutabagas, shallots, sunflower kernels, sweet potatoes, swiss chard, tomatillos, turnips, zucchini

Fruits:

Asian pear, Barbados cherries, black crowberries, cactus pear, cape gooseberries, crab apples, cranberries, date plum, figs, grapes, guava, huckleberries, key limes, kumquats, grapes, mushrooms, passion fruit, pear, persimmons, pineapple, pomegranate, pumpkin, quince, sapote, Sharon fruit, sugar apple

Herbs:

Rosemary, parsley, sage, thyme
