I’ve talked a lot on this blog about the divine feminine and Goddesses. You all know I have a few favorites including Inanna and Auset (Isis). There has always been a balance to this energy through the divine masculine, particularly the Green Man, Horned God, and god of fertility/prosperity. Lately, I’ve fallen down the rabbit hole of exploring the divine masculine in relation to the Age of Aquarius.
Aquarius is the 11th sign in the western astrological zodiac. Aquarius is represented by waves of energy which resemble water and an individual pouring water from one jar to the other, Aquarius is often mistaken as a water sign when it is an air sign. Innovative, futuristic, humanitarian. Aquarian’s are known to be ruled by Uranus and previously they were ruled by Saturn. Uranus is the planet of revolutions, think a bolt of lightening striking you with an epiphany. Saturn, is the planet of order, stability, consistency, and getting the work done. Someone who can evaluate systems and laws, perceive what needs to be changed, and then has the creative tenacity to implement these changes. A pretty extraordinary energy huh. Now, what does this have to do with the divine masculine?
“Symbolically, Aquarius is the ideal man, often artistically depicted as an angel, an immortal messenger to mankind from the gods, a perfected being who has liberated himself from the limitations of time and space (the orbits of Saturn and Jupiter) so that he can fly between Heaven and Earth with his lofty concepts. Angels inspire, guide, instruct, guard, protect, and can appear suddenly a momentous message”. – Archetypes of the Zodiac by Kathleen Burt
I read this while studying my astrology and had a MOMENT! I said huh…this is the age of the Aquarius and Aquarius is related to the divine masculine…is this a time of healing of the divine masculine? Then I began to think through what has been happening on a larger social scale particularly the #metoo and reproductive health cases. If this is a time of returning to balance (Temperance), moving beyond the singular savior narrative of the age of Pisces, and making way for us to energetically and technologically advance the link to the divine masculine makes a lot of sense. Particularly, if we look at to heal the divine feminine through balance then that would include healing the divine masculine.
What is the masculine narrative and energy outside of the limited scope that has been imprinted upon our psyche through years of conditioning? I’m not sure if I know but what I do know is that if we internalize and live through the kind, protective, joyful, loving, peaceful, powerful energy of Pisces Christ like energy combined with the creativity and determination to improve the world we live in of Aquarians, we have a delightful view of the masculine light side in the age of Aquarius. Not to minimize the shadow side of the feminine or masculine but the hope (The Star card also a card associated with Aquarius) that the light brings to us gives us the strength to continue on the healing integration journey.
Thus, I am exploring some of my fave gods associated with fertility, death, the horned god, and the Green Man including Osiris, Dionysus, Cernunnos, and Quetzalcoatl. I cannot wait to explore more of the healing of the divine masculine with you all.
